Perspective of Atticus

So many stressful things are happening lately. Just being an adult is hard enough but then being a parent is something else. First my job is to defend a Negro in town. Everybody has different opinions on the matter and the names are getting pretty creative. I feel that they are ingenuous and made just to get at me and half of the people saying them don't even know what they're talking about. If possible i want isolate my children from their talk as well.

Speaking of children scout sure is something. She is fanatical about defending my name but i think she needs to be more slow to anger. I know she will be hearing a lot but i also know that she can't possibly understand it all in her young age. I know this case will have a huge affect on me but i don't want it to affect Jem and Scout too much. I just really am worried about them.

And there is a lot to be worried about. The fire was very stressful and it could have been so dangerous. There was really no safe place for them to be. Outside was very cold and they could have gotten sick and inside was dangerous of getting stuck in a fire. The blanket Boo Radley gave her must have really helped and i am thankful for it though i am slightly perplexed in how it happened. I just don't know how Scout and jem didn't notice that Authur Radley was standing adjacent them.
