To Kill A Mockingbird #2

Journal # 2

Chapters 4-7

Perspective of Ms. Maudie Atkins

Those kids from across the street sure are something else. I always enjoy their company especially little Scout. I always like to have them some baked goods like a cake or something since i know that they are hungry from always playing around. It's very entertaining to watch them play. they stand in their yard acting out a play or something. One time it looked Dill had stabbed Jem in the leg and Jem starts teetering around. The stuff they do the looks a little off though and sometimes makes me wonder.
Oh and the things they wonder about. The other day they were asking me about Boo Radlley. They think that he died and was stuffed up the chimney. They are unanimous with all the stories that they have heard. They really believe that he would be so malignant and that he goes around staring  in through people windows and tormenting animals. I told them "That is three-fourths colored folks and one-fourth Stephanie Crawford."
Those kids surely are up to something but I'm not sure what. I sometimes see Jem and Scout quibbling. That surprises me since they always get along and play together. Another thing that surprised me was the whole incident at the Radley's  place. Nathan says he heard a Negro in his yard but i can't think of anyone in their right mind who would want to go in the Radley place, white or colored. Then the little ones were very late in arrivin to the scene. Jem didn't even have pants on. I just don't know what to make   of the young ones.
