Chapter 8

Chapter 8- Gift for the Darkness
"A Gift for the Beast"
Perspective : Me

Well Jack has left Ralph and order. He has went of to be savage and paint his face. He let the wild side escape out as he went to hunt. His hunters came with him away from the group and the acted brutally and savagely. They hunted upon a mother sow that was feeding children. The stabbed it with their spears but the sow managed to escape. She would have died eventually if they waited patiently. She was limping and badly wounded. The hunters didn't stop there though.
They followed it away leaving the soon to be orphaned piglets. They followed it fresh trail of blood to a beautiful scene. It was a very nice and peaceful place but it proved be the setting of a horrible death. Jack jumped on top of the pig with his knife. he slashed at it neck repeatedly. He carried it out longer than it should have been. His hands became stained with blood and he laughed as he got of it.
The group of hunters laughed at Jack and his bloody hands. The were wickedly happy for there meat. Rodger removed his spear from the pigs rear and showed the group. They laughed as he spoke the first swear word spoken on the island. They then proceeded to carry out a evil play of the kill. They doubled over in laughter enjoying every savage second.

I agree with Marsh, because that scene when they kill the sow out of joy truly is terrifying. I even wrote about it for my 8th blog post. The way Golding described it so vividly makes me feel like could be there. I can even imagine myself as the sow, getting hurt and stabbed at repeatedly. I especially hate how all of the boys laugh at the kill as if its a game! That's really wicked.

So Marsh, what do you feel is the most disgusting or terrifying part of this scene?
