Lord of the Flies
Chapter 7: Shadows and Tall Trees
" The Hunt for the Veast"
Perspective: Simon
Dear Diary,
Since there were stories of a beast on the island we went hunting to find if it was really there. We were fallowing pig tracks. We were  gone for a while and Ralph suggested that we go into the forest. It was almost late and some people were scared. Ralph suggested that we send someone back to go get Piggy. No one volunteered they were all afraid of going alone. I went though because i knew piggy would get worried.
As i walked back to piggy i thought about the changes in Ralph. His hair has gotten long and dirty. it needs to be cut and washed. His nails are all bitten off to the finger. if he bit them anymore he would probably begin to bleed. his clothes are shredded scaps that give his skin a rash. he is not the only one either. the rest of us have suffered the same without any new clothes or anywhere to wash our hair.
i overheard some of the boys talking about a "game" they had played in the forest. They thought it was all fun in game but to me it shows the evil side of them. I believe that evil side of them is the beast but i'm not sure. they were trying to catch a pig but failed in their attempt. they reanacted the scene using a boy for the big but i didn't hear what boy it was.  they jabbed at him with their spears and not just pretend. they ignored his crys for help. it saddens me that they would be so heartless.
As for the beast ralph, Jack, and Rodger just came running into the camp and they are breathing heavy. it seems as if they were just running. i am hearing bits and pieces about them seeing the beast. they are going to call a meeting right now so i know that i'll find out soon. If Ralph says he saw the beast than maybe there actually right. maybe they are seeing things. Or maybe they came running to tell us that theree is no beast but i doubt that. Well they are calling the meeting now so i have to go.
